Moving between cinematic and spatial formats, I research how colonial histories shape perception by reclaiming the body as a living archive and ground for resistance. Decolonization is a spiritual practice of meeting the ancestors and awakening dormant memories within the body, mind, and spirit.

By weaving together spirituality, technology, and speculative storytelling, I treat the body as a site of dialogue that questions: What counts as valid knowledge? Which bodies and voices are authorized to produce it? and whose truths get preserved —or erased?

Alejandra Montoya is a Mexican visual artist based in Berlin working across installation, video, live visuals, and interactive media. Using tools such as TouchDesigner, sensors, projection, AI and ritual practices, her work explores spirituality, embodiment, migration, and ancestral knowledge through feminist decolonial perspectives.


She holds degrees in professional photography from Escuela Activa de Fotografia in Mexico City and in Fine Arts from the Kunsthochschule Kassel in Germany. Her work has been shown at international film festivals, earning her several Golden Herkules nominations at Kasseler Dokfest and an exceptional merit award for her graduation show. Exhibitions of her work span institutional and independent spaces in Mexico, Germany, Ireland, and France. She is also a co-founder of the media art collective TERRARISTA TV, where she contributes to curating, storytelling, and visual production. The collective received funding from HessenFilm und Medien GmbH to create a multi-sensory installation in Witzenhausen’s colonial archive, exploring colonial heritage and its ongoing impacts.
