Identidad de humo

Identidad de Humo is a multimedia installation grounded in the knowledge of Tezcatlipoca, the Smoking Mirror, the force that drives self-knowledge. Within Mexica cosmology, perception is understood as the smoke of that which is, in essence, Consciousness.

From this perspective, the work composes a living portrait in which the artist’s body constantly tries to transform into Coatlicue, the monumental volcanic stone sculpture representing the simultaneous forces of creation and destruction.

The work stages a tension between solidity and volatility. Through a generative visual system, the body appears fragmented, unstable and in constant transformation. The portrait never consolidates into a fixed image. Identity remains transitory.
